Agriculture is at the heart of today’s biggest challenges, from climate change to biodiversity loss. Regenerative farming offers a solution that goes beyond sustainability by restoring ecosystems, improving soil health, and strengthening farm resilience.
In Brazil, the Rainforest Alliance, together with Agrogenius and Bourbon Specialty Coffees, is leading a pilot project to support coffee farms in transitioning to regenerative practices. The initiative aims to deliver long-term environmental, social, and economic benefits while creating a scalable transition model for the sector.
The project focuses on soil health as a foundation for regeneration, promoting practices such as cover crops and the use of bio-inputs to enhance biodiversity, boost productivity, and increase carbon sequestration.
Launched in September 2024, the initiative also introduces impact indicators to measure environmental improvements and economic resilience. As demand for specialty coffee grows, the project demonstrates how collaboration and innovation can restore ecosystems while increasing the value and quality of Brazilian coffee.
By advancing regenerative agriculture, the partners are helping shape a more resilient and sustainable future for coffee production.
