Family Heritage & Ownership
The Mierisch family''''''''s coffee journey began over a century ago. Bruno Mierisch Boettiger, a German geologist, was granted land in Nicaragua''''''''s highlands in exchange for unpaid wages. This land eventually became Las Lajas, the family''''''''s original coffee farm, with the first trees planted in 1908.
Today, the company is led by 3rd, 4th, and 5th generation members:
• Dr. Erwin R. Mierisch (3rd generation) maintains agronomical oversight.
• Eleane Mierisch (General Director until her passing in 2023), Erwin Jr., and Steve (4th generation) elevated the farm into the specialty coffee sphere.
• The 5th generation, known as Erwin III (“Wingo”), contributes to the QC lab, client relations, and processing innovation.
